A Fourth Trip Across the Atlantic
This is the fourth time I'll have flown a dog across the Atlantic for a World Championships and the fourth time this blog has come to life! Crazy! I can't believe how fortunate I am to have all these great experiences.
Around this time next week, we'll be heading to the airport. I can't wait!
On Friday (after celebrating a Mother's Day Tea at Kyra's school), Rio and I will be driving (quickly!) to Dundas where we will be getting our last vet check at 5pm (I'm praying not to hit traffic in Toronto!). The rules are so strict for the UK, that the timing has to be almost exact for the vet check. We have been checking, double checking and then checking our paperwork again. Just ask the poor staff at Rideau—how many times can I be in asking for my paperwork to be modified again....? After the vet check, we will be having an informal team dinner. All day Saturday we will be having a team practice at the McCann's indoor facility. The competition in the UK will be held on dirt—hopefully similar to the McCann's floor. Sunday morning will also be more practice time and hopefully it'll tire Rio out a bit before the big flight.
Once again, I can't stress enough how supportive you have all been! Thanks to all of you who let me pester you to buy raffle tickets, more raffle tickets and t-shirts and to all of you who came to Kim & my seminars. Thanks again to Nathalie Lafleur for the work on her fundraising e-book and to Shona Thirsk for her really cool Christmas wreath photos and ID tag sales. A big thank you to all the wonderful sponsors who made my two fundraising raffle tables a huge success. You are all beyond fabulous!!
