Getting Closer!

Twenty-nine days until we leave, but really, who's counting anyway?

Rio and I are starting to get things a little bit organized which includes reminding me how to post to this blog!  We now have our flights confirmed and I'm totally thrilled to be able to come and go from the Ottawa airport.  Unfortunately we won't be travelling with any other team members, but I know Rio will be much happier burning off pre-flight energy chasing squirrel's at The Toxic rather than hanging out in the back of the car for five hours down the 401 to Toronto.

We are still on a little bit of a high after the Nationals, but have re-focused our training efforts.  No more gambling and 'safe' handling skills, we are on to speed and training for the twisty European courses.  We are also brushing up on our 24" spaced weaves, the broad jump and the ascending double.

Tomorrow is a trip to see Dr. Miki and get a third rabies shot in under three years.    Unfortunately the Europeans don't recognize our three year vaccine.  After Rio's trips across the Atlantic, I don't think she'll ever need another rabies shot!  There's also a bit of paperwork to be filled out and then I have to make an appointment with the Food Inspection Agency (I know, a little strange—but I guess they need to ensure that if I eat Rio, I won't get Rabies???) to get a little stamp on my paperwork saying that I filled it out correctly.  All for the low price of $20 of course!

I'm starting to get very excited!
